TAG Heuer Announces Redesigned Autavia Watch at Baselworld 2019

Every year representatives from some of the largest watch brands in the world come together for Baselworld, the largest international trade show for the luxury watch industry. Claudio Celi and Frank Teti, the store manager and assistant manager respectively, were invited to the Baselworld showing of the new Autavia collection from TAG Heuer this year.

With a history rooted in aviation and automobiles, TAG Heuer’s original Autavia line was a legendary marriage of Swiss engineering and adventurous culture. At Baselworld 2019, TAG Heuer announced to both watch lovers and retailers that the vintage Autavia line had been given a cutting-edge makeover for contemporary audiences.

Autavia watches benefit from SuperLuminova technology that makes the three hands and numerals visible in any light level. The crown of the watches and their cases are crafted with the history of aviation in mind. And for modern adventurers, TAG Heuer adds its new ISOGRAPH, the name for its proprietary state-of-the-art oscillator. Made from carbon composite, the hairspring and custom-built balance wheel are chronometer-certified to keep their precision regardless of disturbances such as shocks, temperature changes, and magnetic fields.

Celi had this to say about the proceedings: “In the past, the shows have been very large and overwhelming. This year, it was much more enjoyable for us […] while there were less brands in attendance, we were able to experience more and meet with more people as well.”

Overall impressions of Baselworld this year from both representatives were unanimously positive. The excellent spring weather in Basel reflected the mood at the trade show.

There was lots of excitement when TAG Heuer revealed the Autavia collection, and Mr. Celi was left laughing and shaking his head about the show-stealing timepiece collection. “It’s always a great time with the team at TAG Heuer,” he said.

TAG Heuer’s new Autavia models are set to be released this summer at Damiani Jewellers and other authorized TAG Heuer retailers.
